Who are we?

Open Stemmata is a organisation aiming at creating an Open Source database of textual genealogies (i.e. stemmata).
It was created on the 20th Nov. 2020 by Jean-Baptiste Camps and Gustavo Riva.

How to contribute

We welcome contributions by all, on any kind of textual tradition (any period in history, language, genre, etc.).
If you are new to digital philology, have a look at our detailed guidelines.
Contributions can be sent as pull request on our github repository.
They are composed of

  • A metadata file, that can be created using our form (mandatory)
  • An image file, i.e. a scan of the source stemma (optional)
  • A DOT (Graphviz) transcription of the stemma, that can be easily done with the help of an online editor such as Edotor (optional)
